That's some blockbuster shit right there.
The Heat has told center Shaquille O'Neal's representation that it is talking about trading him and he should be prepared for the possibility of a deal, according to two officials close to the situation. Phoenix has discussed sending forward Shawn Marion and point guard Marcus Banks to the Heat in return for O'Neal.
Asked for confirmation, one of O'Neal's representatives said O'Neal has been made aware that discussions with Phoenix are serious and ongoing, but that a deal was not definite.

Rotoworld reports the deal is done, pending a Shaq physical on Wednesday in Phoenix. Wow. Shaq certainly isn't what he used to be(a great actor, see Kazaam if you get the chance), but this gives the Suns a big body down low to go with Amare Stoudemire. The Suns are a perennial force in the regular season, and a perennial piece of burning poo in the playoffs. Having Shaq and Amare down low against the likes of Tim Duncan, Tyson Chandler, Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum could give the Suns something they've sorely missed. It will be interesting to see how much he can take all of the Suns' sprinting up and down the floor though. Shaq has 2 years, and 40 million dollars left on his deal, a hefty price for a guy that you can't expect to play everyday now. There's been a lot of rumors of him retiring after this season, but he continues to deny that.
As for Marion, he was terrific in the Suns system, but I don't think his numbers offensively would be nearly as good on any other team in the NBA. He'll get the chance to get his shots off on this woeful Heat team, but does that really tell us anything? Dwyane Wade is the only other good scorer on the team. The Matrix is however, one of the best defenders in the league. Marion also has the option to opt out of his contract at the end of the year, and it will be interesting to see what he wants to do. As bad as Miami is, this might be a good situation with Wade there, a potential top 3 lottery pick where somebody like Michael Beasley or Derrick Rose could be selected, and the chance to find some quality ass at the clubs in South Beach.
I like the Heat getting Marcus Banks in this deal. He's explosive, and extremely quick to the basket. I watched him in person a few times in college, and I'm never seen a crossover like he has. He got stuck behind a guy named Steve Nash and Leandro Barbosa in Phoenix, so now maybe he'll get the chance to show what he can do when given a lot of minutes.
Boris Diaw will step in at Small Forward for the Suns, and he'll fill in just fine. If Shaq can stay healthy, I like this trade for the Suns. Marion was going to bolt in the offseason anyway, and even with him, they couldn't get to the finals. Shaq may be that big man they've been missing.
