He was diagnosed with cancer only a few days after Tennessee ended its 2006-07 season with a Sweet 16 loss to Ohio State in San Antonio. Miraculously, the cancer was discovered after Lofton was picked randomly following the first-round win over Long Beach State to submit to an NCAA-mandated drug test. The results turned up positive, and Tennessee officials weren't notified until the day of the Ohio State game.Here is the link to the ESPN article that came out today. A random drug test may have saved his life, and he battled throughout the year. There really isn't much else to say, except that Chris Lofton is a stud.

I don't like Tennessee at all, and don't even get me started on Bruce Pearl, but I have always liked Chris Lofton. He was small, overlooked, and one of the best shooters in the country. Lofton didn't play as well as a Senior as he did as a Junior, and it came out today why: He was battling cancer.
