And nothing says fantasy like Ms. Hewitt. Or is it Ms. Love Hewitt?
Fantasy baseball...I enjoy it. I enjoy it even more when I'm winning. And the way I win is by cheating...I mean...the way I win is by looking for bargain bin pitching in the middle of the year.
And I think I have three pitchers for you to check for in your Yahoo! fantasy league.
Jonathan Sanchez - SF Giants. Sanchez has flown onto the fantasy baseball radar with his 96 Ks in 95 IP going into today's game. He has turned in 7 quality starts out of his last 8 outings. Win-based leagues are going to hurt him as he plays for the baseball black hole that is San Francisco, but he's a must have in most any league, especially those who aren't concerned with Wins and Losses.
Scott Baker - Minnesota Twins. 52 Ks to 12 BBs in 63 innings. Those are really good numbers. Add to it that he plays on the revitalized Twins gives him value in win/loss formats. He also missed time earlier with an injury, but has come back without a hitch, going 30 innings while giving up 10 runs while striking out 23.
Kevin Slowey - Minnesota Twins. Another Twin, so the same Win/Loss bonus applies. Slowey has 46 Ks in 63 IP against 9...that's right...9 walks. (The stats above do not take into account either his or Sanchez's outings today). Since May 8th, he's given up more than 3 runs twice. 5 out of his last 7 games have been Quality Starts. More of a risk than Sanchez or Baker, but that just makes him more likely to be available.
I don't have access to the numbers, but I can almost guarantee that guys Greg Maddux are still on rosters based on their ability to pitch in their home park (and then get shelled anywhere else) whereas at -least- 1 of the 3 previously mentioned pitchers are available. That makes no sense to me.
I suggest you check your league for these guys before it's too late. And you all know how much traffic this site gets...and it's not all related to the pictures.
