New Mexico Bowl
Saturday, 2:30 PM Eastern
Game Time Weather Forecast: Sunny, 45 Degrees, 22 MPH winds
Could this be Colorado St.'s start to get back atop the Mountain West or Fresno St.'s "Happy Ending" to a promising season gone bad. Colorado State must establish the run with Gartrell "The Predator" Johnson(pictured right), as Fresno St is allowing 197 yards rushing per game. Johnson should do fine as he has 1,192 yards on the season.
CSU has other threats thought with Billy Farris at QB. He has teamed up with Dion Morton over the past 3 games for 5 TD's. Defensively DB Mike Pagnotta will return for a final game and help CSU defend the deep ball.
Fresno St will also have to establish the run game early as CSU is giving up just over 180 yards per game on the ground. This game should be about who establishes the run and controls the clock.
Just like Colorado St, Fresno has a QB that can throw if its a good day. Tom Brandstater has a connected with Seyi Ajirotutu 44 times this year for 714 yards. So look for Fresno to establish the run and then go deep to Ajirotutu (try to pronounce that).
If the wind turns into a big factor in the pass game, then I see Colorado St's ground game pounding away until late in the 4th quarter to win a tight game. Besides, CSU lost the New Mexico Bowl Mexican food cooking challenge and are out for revenge.
My Pick: Colorado State
Against the Spread: Colorado State (+3)
