Reggie Williams' Free Agent Opportunities Up In Smoke

Free agency began today. It's a chance for many football players to cash in, and get a fresh start with a new team. Outside of draft day, it's the most important of times off the field for many of these players, such as wide receiver Reggie Williams.

The 9th overall pick in the 2004 NFL draft, Williams was a big disappointment for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He's shown glimpses of why he was a top-10 talent in the 2004 class, and there's a good chance he'd catch on somewhere else this offseason and get the chance to start on a team in desperate need of receivers, such as the Chicago Bears and Tennessee Titans. So this is the first day to get himself on the right track, and this is what happens:

Free agent receiver Reggie Williams, Jr., who spent the last five years with the Jacksonville Jaguars, was arrested in Houston early Friday morning.
Police records show Williams was arrested at 1:59am. He has been charged with DWI and possession of .97 grams of marijuana, both class B misdemeanors.

Williams failed three field sobriety tests but refused to voluntarily provide a blood and urine sample, according to the police report.

How stupid can you be? Unbelievable. This was two hours after free agency began! At least wait like three days when you've caught on with another team and some guaranteed money. Now it's possible nobody signs him and his career looks like a bigger disappointment by the minute.
