Pittsburgh Pirates: Laughingstock?

The title seems accurate enough. The Pirates haven't had a winning season in 17 years, barring an amazing second half rally. To call a team who has unloaded pretty much their entire major league roster over the last few weeks isn't as out there as, say, a Red Sox fan complaining about Yankees payroll.

So why would I spend the time to type this up? Well, when it's a relief pitcher for the Washington Nationals opening his mouth, one has to take a moment and reflect.

Mr. Sean Burnett, take it away:

"They're the laughingstock of baseball right now. They've gotten rid of everybody. They won't keep anybody around. Some of the guys here, they don't understand it, but Nyjer and I knew this was coming.

Mr. Burnett, former Pirate, plays for a team that is currently 32-71, may set the all time loss record, seems to have an unhealthy infatuation with acquiring outfielders, and may end up with a player who hits more bombs this year than his team will have wins (Adam Dunn). They may be the worst team in recent history, if not all history.

Yea Sean...it's the Pirates that baseball is laughing at...
