What I'm Betting: Week 3

.500 week last week (-1 unit), but just getting into the swing of things. I wasn't the only one to get shell-shocked by UNC and Georgia Tech suddenly not knowing how to run their triple option? Not my fault, dammit! It's not...*scuffs feet*

Anyway, I can find a way to make you all forget about my .500 week and wonder exactly who the hell I think I am to make picks that are bound to lose. Well, I'm the guy that swings the line. In your favor. Word.

My picks!

4* - Oregon State +1.5 over Cincinnati - Home dogs always whet my appetite, and here we have a team with Jacquizz Rodgers facing a team that is coming across the country and into a place where USC was beaten last year. Cincinnati is going to put points on the board, but I don't know if they'll be able to maintain their defensive intensity if Rodgers is working them over and force them to play an entire game (Cinci's last 2 games have been blowouts and low pressure situations).

4* - Florida -30 over Tennessee - This line is going to go up, I think, so you'll want to get it quick. Florida is the best team in the country with the best college player, maybe, of all time. Tennessee is having to go to Gainesville after losing at home to UCLA last week. And one cannot forget the off-season comments by one Lane Kiffen, calling Urban Meyer's integrity into question. Florida is going to be piping mad coming into their first real game of the 2009 season, and there's no reason to believe that they're not going to attempt to run up the score on Tennessee. Florida won this game 30-6 last year in Tennessee and returns their entire defense. Take the Gators. Do it. I'll wait.

Good job.

3* - GT +5.5 over Miami (FL) - Alright, alright. I know. GT burned me last week. However, it's hard to imagine the option being that poorly run two weeks in a row. Miami squeaked out a win against Florida St last Monday, then Florida St. squeaked by Jacksonville St. Such a series of events makes you wonder about the strength of Miami's win. Miami does get 10 days rest coming into this game, but GT gets a full week having played last Thursday as well, somewhat negating any advantage Miami may have in this department. While the game is in Dolphins Stadium, I'm going against the home team here and taking GT and the points in a game that I think GT has a great chance to win.

Season so far - 2-2 (-1 unit)
