Leslie Bibb
I saw this woman looking gorgeous in Iron Man yesterday(about 3 hours ago, but technically yesterday) and it was driving me crazy as I couldn't figure out what else I'd seen her in. Then I realized, that's the Talladega Nights hottie! I also realized upon searching her that I'd seen her before in The Skulls as well... and I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that.

Before acting, Leslie was a model. At the age of 16, Leslie won a nationwide model search on The Oprah Winfrey Show. She then continued modeling into her early 20s, and then surely because of her modeling success, she appeared in the Howard Stern movie Private Parts.

Since then she's appeared in many movies such as the ones I already mentioned, and television shows such as ER and CSI: Miami.

I'll end with a couple nice tidbits. One, she's single. Two, she's starring in an upcoming film called A Good Old Fashioned Orgy.

Hi. I'm an uber-dumbass.

Free agency began today. It's a chance for many football players to cash in, and get a fresh start with a new team. Outside of draft day, it's the most important of times off the field for many of these players, such as wide receiver Reggie Williams.

The 9th overall pick in the 2004 NFL draft, Williams was a big disappointment for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He's shown glimpses of why he was a top-10 talent in the 2004 class, and there's a good chance he'd catch on somewhere else this offseason and get the chance to start on a team in desperate need of receivers, such as the Chicago Bears and Tennessee Titans. So this is the first day to get himself on the right track, and this is what happens:

Free agent receiver Reggie Williams, Jr., who spent the last five years with the Jacksonville Jaguars, was arrested in Houston early Friday morning.

Police records show Williams was arrested at 1:59am. He has been charged with DWI and possession of .97 grams of marijuana, both class B misdemeanors.

Williams failed three field sobriety tests but refused to voluntarily provide a blood and urine sample, according to the police report.

How stupid can you be? Unbelievable. This was two hours after free agency began! At least wait like three days when you've caught on with another team and some guaranteed money. Now it's possible nobody signs him and his career looks like a bigger disappointment by the minute.

NFL Free Agency: First 90 Minutes off and running

Posted by Poorly Acquitted | 2/26/2009 09:54:00 PM

NFL Free Agency starts nowish. This is crazy time. Most fans get pumped about the Draft, and with good reason. But free agency could prospectively lead to more instant impact players. I'm particularly concerned this year because the Browns are letting my favorite player (Safety Sean Jones) hit the market. Oh yeah there are other players too: TJ Whosyourdaddy, Albert Haynesworth, Ray Lewis, Bart Scott, etc.

I'll be here for the first 90 minutes keeping you updated.

10:02 pm MST
- One minute in, nothing going so far. Lets go NFL, get going! Tell me where these dudes are going.

10:11 pm MST
- What the hell? This is boring!!!! Nothing still going on as far as I can tell from my sources: ESPN.com, Yahoosports.com, NFL.com. Well screw it, I'm sticking it out.

10:16 pm MST
- First big name heading somewhere else: Derrick Dockery who was inexplicably released by the Bills appears to be heading to DC to join the Redskins.

10:23 pm MST
- Does Todd McShay even think before he makes his Mock Drafts? That dude is a freaking jackass and I'm sure that the only reason ESPN keeps him is so that people don't get too fed up with Mel Kiper Jr. It also adds to Kiper's credibility to have McShay be constantly wrong.

10:27 pm MST
- The fighting Daniel Snyder's strike again! DeAngelo Hall has apparently signed a contract with the Redskins for 6 years and $50 mill or so. Hall is immensely talented, but is there a more enigmatic player in the league?

10:32 pm MST
- John Clayton of ESPN and Adam Schefter of NFL.com are saying that the Hall deal fetches $22 million guaranteed and $30 mill in the first 3 seasons. Holy crapballs!!!!

10:41 pm MST
- Jets are going to hang on to FB Tony Richardson. Richardson is one of the best in the game and opened up holes better than Ron Jeremy while blocking for Thomas Jones in '08.

Because I know you're all concerned, no word on that other player with the last name Jones.

10:45 pm MST
- Marvin Harrison has game left right? I don't want to sound like an apologist for the guy, but I have to believe that he'll put up numbers somewhere next year. I think his public images is as carefully crafted and as perfectly fake as A-Rod and Tim Duncan (i.e. they are douchers despite their best attempt to illustrate otherwise). That doesn't matter for his productivity does it?

10:52 pm MST
- John Clayton has to wear at least 5 pounds of make up. I ran into him at Broncos training camp 4 years ago and it is scary how much he resembles Al Davis and his cast of characters. That was 4 years ago. Yikes.

11:02 pm MST
- Nearly an hour into free agency. I expected a lot more noise on the market, but Mike Hall is making plenty of noise in the ESPN studio. ESPN would be sued if Mike Hall was on during the day the following lines have come out of his mouth so far:

"Albert Haynesworth's wallet is about to expand like his waistline."

"Be real with me my brother." After asking Housh where Housh will end up.

"You know I got to work hard to pay the bills my brother." Same interview with Housh.

11:22 pm MST
- News for Bronco nation: allegedly the team will fly in JJ Arrington and Correll Buckhalter for interviews. Foolish if you ask me. The Broncs need to spend every available dollar upgrading that defense. One of the 7 RBs that was injured last year can surely be serviceable at the position.

Can Cliff Lee repeat his dominating 2008 performance?

Since we're all huge baseball fans here at the Thigh, we've decided to examine each MLB team and where they currently stand. We'll look at how the team did last year, changes that happened or could happen with the team this offseason, and how it looks like the team will do in 2009 as of now. We'll even toss in the hottest thigh associated with each team. In this edition, we look at the Cleveland Indians.

2008 Outcome: 81-81, 3rd place in the AL Central

What They've Lost: RP Brendan Donnelly (signed with Rangers), C Sal Fasano (signed with Rockies), RP Juan Rincon (signed with Tigers)

What They've Added: RP Kerry Wood (free agent), SP Carl Pavano (free Agent) RP Joe Smith(acquired from Mets), IF Mark DeRosa (acquired from Cubs) RP Juan Salas (acquired from Rays), 2B Tony Graffanino (free agent)

Needs: Starting pitching and to stay healthy. The Indians suffered through several injuries last year, they are the deepest team in the AL Central and helped solved their biggest problem from last year, which was bullpen. If they can stay healthy they have a very good looking team.

The Talk: The Indians really only made two major offseason moves. Acquiring Mark DeRosa from the Cubs, and signing former Cubs closer Kerry Wood. They didn't lose any major pieces. The AL Central looks to be a very winnable division as the White Sox took a step backwards and neither the Twins or Tigers did anything of major significance. To really make a splash the Indians will be counting on a lot of young guys however. Ben Francisco and Shin-Soo Choo will be manning the corner outfield positions. Both have showed flashes of being very good players, but whether they can keep it up all season in key offensive spots will be a question.

Of course Grady Sizemore is the rock of the Indians team and they will need another big year out of him. New addition Mark DeRosa will likely step right into a leadership role at 2B as a double play partner with youngster Asdrubal Cabrera. Jhonny Peralta will most likely move to 3rd base and Ryan Garko will man 1st base.

The two guys to really keep an eye on are Catcher Victor Martinez and DH Travis Hafner. Both had major injury problems last year which really hurt the Indians offense. If they can get those two guys right, they will be in great shape. Cleveland also has Kelly Shoppach, who broke out with 21 HR last year, to help man both spots.

As for the pitching side of things. Reigning Cy young award winner Cliff Lee will try to prove that last year was no fluke. After failing to pick up any significant upgrades Lee and Fausto Carmona will have to anchor the pitching rotation. Jake Westbrook will likely not be back til after the All-star break, so until then Jeremy Sowers, Carl Pavano and Anthony Reyes will likely have to hold down the last 3 spots in the rotation. If the Indians make any mid-season deals a starting pitcher is the most likely place to upgrade.

Other than injuries bullpen may have been the biggest issue for the Indians last year. They were determined to go out and sign a big name reliever and they did so in Kerry Wood. If he can stay healthy he will provide a consistent dominant arm at the end of the bullpen. Jensen Lewis who looked very good in the 2nd half last year will likely share setup duties with Rafael Betancourt.

Free Agent Signing/Trade Prediction: They are probably done as the Indians front office has said the team is set.

As I mentioned above, the Indians may look to trade for a starting pitcher mid season, especially if it takes Jake Westbrook longer than expected to come back or if Carl Pavano fails to stay healthy.

Young Player(s) To Make 2009 Impact: OF/1B Matt LaPorta

The Indians have young players covering 1B and both corner OF spots. LaPorta has put up big numbers in the minors and at 24 he is likely ready to contribute now. If any of the 3 struggle or if the Indians have more injury problems look for LaPorta to get a shot and when he does, don't be surprised if he takes full advantage of it. There is a reason why the Indians were willing to let go of CC Sabathia for this guy.

2009 Outlook: The AL Central is wide open. I could see anyone but the Royals winning it. The Indians have the deepest team with the most upside however and if their starting pitching can stay healthy and produce they look like the team most likely to come away with the division crown. They finally started playing very well in the second half last year and had the season been a month longer they may have been able to come all the way back and win it last year.

Hottest Thigh Association: Heidi DeRosa

When the Indians acquired Mark DeRosa from the Cubs, not only did they get a great versatile ballplayer but they also gained his very hot wife Heidi. She is a former fashion model. Mark is a very lucky guy.

Free agent defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth's suitors could grow with the salary cap increase.

We are just at the beginning of what is shaping up to be one of the wildest offseasons in NFL history, and there's already some huge news which is sure to make a significant difference on how the offseason goes. According to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network and NFL.com, the salary cap is increasing by over $4 million:

Because teams didn’t spend as much as they were supposed to under the collective bargaining agreement the past three years, teams were notified Wednesday that the salary cap will increase over $4 million to $127 million for this coming year, according to sources with two NFL teams. The collective bargaining agreement calls for cap adjustment down if teams spend over the cap in cash and adjustment up if they don’t spend up to the cap.

With free agency beginning at midnight ET, this is an early Christmas present for some teams that didn't have much cap space to work with such as the Colts and Panthers as Schefter also pointed out in the article. Maybe more teams will be a possibility to sign free agents such as defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth and wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh now. It also might be a disappointment to a team like the Buccaneers that are projected to be $50 million over the cap, as they might now have some competition for some players they felt they'd be able to sign.

What I'm really curious about is if teams were aware of this salary cap increase prior to last night when this news was reported. Would all of the cuts have been made in the last two days if these teams knew they had potentially $4 million more available to spend?

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun-Times provided some nice information on this:

There is a cap-adjustment mechanism and as one source said the number gets moved every year. Last year, it moved by about $700,000. This year, it just happened to be a bigger jump.
Link(Chicago Sun-Times)

So teams had to be expecting an increase in the salary cap as it happens each season apparently, but by over $4 million? I wouldn't be surprised if many around the league were unaware of this prior to these cuts in the last few days, and many of the players let go are very popular, if not still very talented.

In five years if you saw the list of players cut in NFL in the last two days, you'd be wondering what the hell was going on. Look at some examples:
  • Bucs released LB Derrick Brooks, RB Warrick Dunn, LB Cato June, WR Joey Galloway, and WR Ike Hilliard.
  • Colts released WR Marvin Harrison.
  • Jets released WR Laveranues Coles.
  • Chiefs released LB Donnie Edwards, CB Patrick Surtain, and QB Damon Huard.
  • Rams released QB Trent Green and WR Drew Bennett.
  • Raiders released S Gibril Wilson and WR Ronald Curry.
  • Panthers released WR D.J. Hackett.
  • Texans released OT Ephraim Salaam and S Will Demps.
Every year there's some big names released because simply they're past their best playing days, and the same is the case for most of these players. Teams are really focusing on getting younger, as well as not being so financially tied up into one player. While Daniel Snyder, Al Davis, and Jerry Jones are willing to put $15 million per season into some players, most organizations choose to spread that money around. I understand that Marvin Harrison for example has clearly lost a step to say the least and the Colts freed up $6 million with the release, so that move totally makes sense. The Buccaneers were also set on their rebuilding plan, so it seems they were just looking to get younger and essentially start over.

However, there's a few players on that list that were likely let go because of financial restraints of teams. It's possible this wouldn't be a problem with this $4 million salary cap increase, which teams may have been uniformed of as I suggested.

Regardless, this offseason's already full of headline-worthy news and should just get crazier with the salary cap increase and many popular players changing teams.

Arizona's the place to be!!!

Posted by Poorly Acquitted | 2/25/2009 08:24:00 PM | , ,

Get me to the Valley of the Sun right now!!!

I might not like Arizona State, but I love the state of Arizona. What a week down there!!!

Tiger's making his comeback down in Marana, just outside of Tucson. I've been told that the matchplay at Marana is a sweet event to hit up. Due to Tucson's, ummmmm, location, apparently it's a really easy event to watch from up close. That's it, I'm going next year.

Spring Training starting all over the state.

The sun.

I try to convince people that Arizona is a great vacation spot, but they never seem to believe me. The weather is fantastic. The scenery (both geographic and female) is phenomenal. There is more golf to be played than in any other state in the union. Well except Florida and California, but those states are way bigger.

Oh yeah, and if any ASU coeds want to serve as tour guides I'll allow that.
