The Indians just traded Victor Martinez to the Boston Red Sox. It doesn't even matter who they received in return.

To sum it up, in the last 20 months the Indians have gone from blowing a 3 -1 lead in the ALCS, to entering the 2008 season with the best pitching staff in baseball and a helluva line up to back it up, to having 2008 wrecked by a slew of injuries, to becoming the first team IN THE HISTORY OF BASEBALL to trade the defending Cy Young Award winner in back to back seasons, to now dismantling the team and cashing in the chips for this year and next year too.

This is absolute crap.

Long time readers of the Thigh know I'm a Tribe fan. Newer readers now are also akin to this fact.

After the 2007 ALCS debacle my only solace was knowing that the Tribe had a good team for years to come. I knew we probably only had CC for one more year, but that was ok because Fausto Carmona looked primed to step into his shoes. Cliff Lee was healthy again and had a great season at Triple A and would part of the rotation in 08. Jake Westbrook was a steady eddy middle of the rotation starter. They had a slew of guys capable of filling that fifth starter role.

CC gets traded. Jake has Tommy John surgery. Fausto can't throw a strike any more. The bullpen became almost historically bad. Cliff gets traded.

Awesome.

I could stomach the Indians trading Ryan Garko. He was a great clubhouse guy and a clutch hitter. The Tribe had a logjam at catcher and 1st base and somebody had to go. I wished it was Kelly Shoppach and not Garko, but oh well.

I was taking the bar exam this week, so I didn't have much time to think about the Lee trade. I tried to rationalize it while pouding out Constitutional Law and Criminal Law essays.

Then this morning happened. Victor Martinez is off to Bean Town. Blllleeeeehhhhh.

Victor Martinez is probably the closest thing the American League has to a Triple Crown threat in a given year. He'll never win it, but he hits for power and average.

The Indians are left to start over. This is so damn frustrating.

Over the last couple months of the season we're going to see some of the prospects from the CC and Victor trade called up. We probably won't see any of the guys from the Lee trade called up this year.

Welp, see you in 2011.

With running a site like this, and being a male in their mid-20s that spends way too much time enjoying the night life, I've seen my fair share of attractive ladies(You thought I was going to say child pornography, didn't you? Sorry, but I'm no Erik Estrada). So to get me basically drooling and just in awe of women, it has to be something very impressive.

Take for example this brand spanking new video from everybody's favorite ass-shaker, Shakira, for her new single called "She Wolf". Just watch:

The album is also titled "She Wolf" and is scheduled to be released in October. Hopefully more music videos will be released for it as well...

I'm back, baby

I know you missed me. It was evident. Without any proof, I'd guess every email that Clapp got involved me. And I appreciate it, I really do.

The Bar Exam is past. Fly At the Thigh is the future. I see we have a new female writer. I wasn't consulted, but I am never one to turn down the ladies.

I don't even know what I am typing. But know this: I am back. Until I fail that test and have to take it again.

It's a shame such a beautiful ballpark(PNC Park) is wasted year after year.

I have to hand it to the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. Not only do they know how to stay out of contention of a winning their division, they are going in the opposite direction of even having a winning season. It's one thing to be unsuccessful or have a rebuilding year, but they are about to lose their um-teenth season in a row (17th to be exact). This is the kind of failure that you have to try to make happen. Even the SATs give you 200 points just for writing your name on the test; the Pirates haven't picked up a pencil!

Don't get me wrong, this breaks my heart to write. I was born in the Steel City and lived there in the days of Barry Bonds, Bobby Bonilla, Andy Van Slyke. I could go on about the memories Jim Leyland gave us in the playoffs from 1990-92. I can honestly say that spending summer after summer at Three Rivers Stadium is what made me love baseball and sports in general. I don't want to sound like I'm responsible, but they haven't had a winning season since I left in 1992.

Just look at the past two seasons: trading Jason Bay, Nate McLouth, Freddy Sanchez, splitting up the LaRoche brothers by sending Adam to Boston; and that's just a few. This isn't just trading talent, this is trading leadership, a franchise player, and it's sucking the life out of the team and its city. They need to put people in those seats at PNC Park and get some excitement going.

I understand that money needs to be saved any way possible for a small market team, but what happened to spending money to make money? It's not fair to Bucs fans, or baseball fans period. I thought maybe things would change after championships for the Steelers and Penguins, but a Triple Crown doesn't quite seem like it's going to happen for the 'Burgh this year.

At some point, the Pirates' front offic is going to have to come to the conclusion that losing is unacceptable is a sports town like Pittsburgh. The question is, what will it take?

I hate even mentioning Brett Favre again, as I've been one of the most vocal people on this planet about shutting the hell up about him. It was pretty disgusting today on SportsCenter, as ESPN took 27 minutes to stop the Favre retirement talk and finally inform us of Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson losing his battle with cancer. Rest in peace Jim.

I'm also just sick and tired of Favre's indecisiveness and holier than though attitude(for a more angry, hilarious, and vulgar view: Kissing Suzy Kolber), and wrote two months ago about him being America's biggest drama queen.

But this is a whole separate story which I found very interesting, being the fantasy football lover/nerd that I am. Fox Sports' Roger Rotter(one of my favorite fantasy football writers) wrote an article saying Brett Favre is the greatest fantasy football player of all-time. Here's an excerpt from the article and I highly suggest that you read the whole thing if you're a fantasy football fan as well:

By all final counts, Favre's career numbers translate to the most fantasy points in NFL history. His 65,127 passing yards (adding one fantasy point per 20 yards) and 464 passing touchdowns (tallying six points per touchdown) compute to 3,256 fantasy points and 2,784 fantasy points, respectively. His fantasy points from passing yards and touchdowns total to 6,040 points.

Link("Retirement or not, Favre is fantasy's greatest player"-Fox Sports)

This was a bit of a surprise to me, but like Rotter explains in the article, Favre's longevity and consistency really adds up. I would've immediately guessed it would be somebody like Marshall Faulk, but he only had 11 years of full, or close to full playing time, compared to Favre's 17 years.

Even at the end of his career(well the end for right now at least), he was still a useful fantasy quarterback. I counted ten seasons looking through his stats, where he was an elite fantasy quarterback, and he was at least solid pretty much every other season.

Yes he threw 310 career interceptions, but that's just going to be minus-one or minus-two fantasy points, whereas his 464 touchdown passes are worth four to six points each depending on the league settings. His gunslinging mentality was perfect for fantasy football.

Look for Peyton Manning to overtake Favre as the best fantasy quarterback of all-time though, if Manning plays into his late 30s or longer. The 32-year-old Manning is currently at 333 passing touchdowns, 45, 628 passing yards, just 165 interceptions, and has 17 rushing touchdowns.

Alright, that's enough. I can't talk about Favre anymore.

So I spent the last two hours working on a fantasy football wide receiver keeper rankings post for you, and my computer crashed. Lost all of the crap I'd worked on, and being late, there's no way in hell I'm doing it all again right now. I'm filthy pissed about it.

But obviously we need something up, we're not going to go almost two days without content here. So I decided to go find a nice video for your enjoyment. The choice? It's the best highlights of the character Leon Black(played by J.B. Smoove) from the sixth season of the best show on television, Curb Your Enthusiasm. Leon's only appeared in season six, but will thankfully be in the upcoming season seven as well.

NSFW Warning: There's a lot of bad language on this video, so I'd strongly suggest you do not watch this in a public setting or with any children present. I'd also suggest that the next time somebody calls you a slur word, you get in that ass. That's how we dooz it.

And because for some reason this scene is not on that video...

We love supporting the Thigh of the Week alumni, and will frequently check in(stalk basically) on them. Today I decided to see what Australian babe Holly Valance is up to, and was stunned to see that she had just released the greatest album cover I've seen in a long time, maybe ever. I just said 2009 in the title to be safe. If you have a sexier one, please feel free to post it in the comments and prove me wrong.

The album cover is from Holly Valance's EP, "Superstar", which releases next month apparently:

Her music isn't much home to write about, and it's the first time she's released music since 2003, but she at least realizes a hot body can do a lot for sales. Here's a video from one of her older songs, "Kiss Kiss", where she's pretty much naked:

More of this please.

Jennifer Hawkins

Yes, Australian thigh... again. We're not going to stop anytime soon either if they keep looking like the lovely Jennifer Hawkins here.

Jennifer is a 25-year-old beauty queen, model, and television personality. She's best known for being Miss Universe in 2004, so those of you that watch that crap likely are well aware of who she is.

She also has some Maria Sharapova in her, standing six feet tall with perfect long legs from the heavens.

Jennifer joins Lara Bingle, Krystal Forscutt, Miranda Kerr, Erin McNaught, Anna Rawson, Emily Scott, Holly Valance, and Nicky Whelan as Austrailan Thigh of the Week representatives. Quite the list.
