Anyway, on hand for this special occasion was Soundgarden(and Audioslave before they broke up in 2007) frontman, Chris Cornell. Well, for those of you that don't know, Cornell also started the grunge band Temple of the Dog in 1990. And the other members of this band were all of the guys that currently make up Pearl Jam, with Eddie Vedder of course being the most the notable member. The band would stop making music in 1992, when they all opted to focus on their other bands(Soundgarden and Pearl Jam). So, to summarize, Temple of the Dog was basically Pearl Jam with Chris Cornell also in the band. Pretty badass.
And by far, the most popular Temple of the Dog song is "Hunger Strike". To this day, it's one of my favorite songs(hell, I even karoke'd it recently... and believe me- it's a bitch to do the Cornell role). It's a grunge anthem of sorts, and shows the amazing vocal talents of Cornell and Vedder. It blends each of their unique voices together perfectly, and I think the song is even more enjoyable these days than around the years it came out, due to the connection we now have with their voices.
Well, last night, Cornell and Pearl Jam teamed up for what was essentially a Temple of the Dog reunion for a few songs. And yes, they performed "Hunger Strike".
Here's video of it:
