December 2012 | Sharapova's Thigh

After the Clemson Tigers drilled a field goal as time expired to defeat the LSU Tigers in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl on Monday night (New Year's Eve 2K12) Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney had a fantastic interview with an ESPN reporter.

Check out the frickin' spectacular speech:

Here are your best Ping Pong shots of 2012

Posted by Matt Clapp | 12/29/2012 07:50:00 PM | , ,

Just arrived back at my home in Denver after spending the last week in San Diego with the fam for Christmas, and plan to bring the blog posts at a rapid rate for you in the coming weeks.

We'll start it out with a video compilation featuring the top table tennis shots of 2012. Laugh all you want, but this is some ping pong AWESOMENESS right here:

Charlotte Bobcats 6'5" swingman Gerald Henderson threw down a monster dunk over Los Angeles Lakers superstar center Dwight Howard on Tuesday night at Staples Center.

Here's video of the Duke product's spectacular posterizing dunk, which he was also fouled on:

Nasty. The Lakers would go on to win the game 101-100, but a one-point loss coupled with that dunk should be considered a victory of sorts for the Bobcats.

VIDEO: Just a Golden Eagle snatching a baby. WAIT WHAT?!

Posted by Matt Clapp | 12/18/2012 08:36:00 PM

So this certainly looks real to me, and all of the commenters on Reddit and YouTube seem to agree. I've never seen anything like this... and if this was a common thing, we'd have quite a problem.

What is "this"? Oh just a golden eagle swooping down and snatching a baby (at a park in Montreal). Yep, seriously. Not making this up.

The baby is fine, thankfully (and quite luckily).

Here's the unbelievable video:

"OH SHIT!" is certainly the reaction we all share after seeing that.

VIDEO: Just your average volleyball triple headshot

Posted by Matt Clapp | 12/13/2012 03:46:00 PM | ,

I have no idea who is playing in the following volleyball video you're about to see... but none of that matters. All that matters is that a triple headshot took place. Yes, a TRIPLE headshot:

Warriors' rookie forward Draymond Green made a layup with 0.9 seconds remaining to beat the Heat 97-95 in Miami on Wednesday night.

Here's video of the Michigan State product's (easy) game-winner to defeat the defending champs:

Golden State is the most surprising team in the NBA so far this season, with a 15-7 record, and 9-1 record against the Eastern Conference. They're currently the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference.

The Heat drop to 16-7 and sit 1.5 games behind the Eastern Conference-leading Knicks.

NBA referee Courtney Kirkland attempted to block a free throw attempt from Kris Humphries in the Nets-Raptors game Wednesday night in Toronto.

Why? Maybe because it's hilarious? Or maybe Kirkland's just a big Kim Kardashian supporter?

Whatever the case, here's video of the rejection attempt:

So Milton (Georgia) High School's Zach Hodskins is an absolute badass. The 6'2" guard is one of the best three-point shooters in Georgia high school basketball, and has gotten the attention of Division I college scouts. In one game this season, he drained seven three-pointers.

Oh, and he's done all this with just one arm, as he was born without half of his left arm below the elbow. Unbelievable, right? Well, believe it:

Amazing. Keep at it, Zach.

Virginia Intermont's 5'11" freshman Anthony 'Nemo' Goode was just named Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Player of the Week, and after you see this ridiculous dunk he threw down against Asbury University over the weekend, you'll understand why:

Golf.Com:
Michael Furrh, who according to the information provided on YouTube is a "Caddie Master of Caddie Club Golf and Assistant Golf Professional of Rolling Hills Country Club" in Arlington, Texas, set a new record for a long-drive with a long club. He used a 14-foot-2.5-inch club to drive a ball 146 yards. According to Eric Nicholson of the Dallas Observer, that broke the previous record of 134.5 yards with a 13-foot-5-inch club.
Um... okay then.

Here's video of Furrh setting the really freaking weird record:

The term "circus shot" is used loosely, but I think this shot would actually make the "circus shot"description quite accurate. Looks like how they'd play golf in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Appalachian State junior center Brian Okam had what has to be the worst free throw of all-time (from anybody that has ever played basketball competitively, anyway) on Saturday against Western Carolina.

See it for yourself:

Spectacularly awful. It should come as no surprise that Okam and Appalchian State lost the game, and are now 1-7 on the season.

Oh, and I'm sure you're wondering Okam's career free throw percentage: 54.5. That's about 54 percentage points higher than I would've guessed after seeing the video.

On Tuesday, a few Philadelphia Eagles players visited a Philadelphia-area elementary school on behalf of the NFL and their 'Play 60' program, to give the school a $10,000 grant for health and wellness equipment and programming.

Well, the local ABC affiliate was on hand to do a TV news report on the story, and interviewed a few children about what it was like to have Eagles players at the school.

Here's what fourth grader Sam Smith had to say about the Eagles: "Even though they're not very good this year, like, they were good in 2004."

Here's video of the news report (skip to the 52-second mark for Smith's quote):

I'm a Saved by the Bell nut, but can't say I saw too many of the Saved by the Bell: The New Class episodes. And that's a good thing, because the series was quite awful

In the show, Mr. Belding is still the Bayside HS principal, and Screech sticks around as his assistant. Zack, Slater, Kelly, and Jessie are gone, and they're replaced by a bunch of random crappy characters.

However, the show did include a cameo from current San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh. Wait, what?

The video proof of Harbaugh's cameo is below, but first, let Jeff G of Last Angry Fan explain the situation:

At the time Harbaugh was quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, and in the Season 4 episode titled Little Hero, he not only plays himself, but he also ends up being Screech’s cousin for some strange and completely unfunny reason. The interaction between Dustin Diamond (aka Screech Powers) and Harbaugh is almost too painfully corny to watch.

Screech's cousin (which would make Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh Screech's cousin as well!)... yeah, um, okay. Very believable.

Anyway, here's video of the episode (just skip to the 15:23 mark for the cameo of Harbaugh ):

There's been plenty of unbelievable college football plays on this Saturday (especially in the SEC Championship between Alabama and Georgia... that game was absolutely bonkers), and the best one came in the Big Ten Championship Game between Nebraska and Wisconsin.

As I write this, Wisconsin is leading Nebraska 42-10 at halftime, so it's surprising that the spectacular play actually came from Nebraska, and their quarterback Taylor Martinez.

Watch Martinez run about 300 yards all over the field, for what was officially a 76-yard touchdown (oh, and with Gus Johnson on the call):
