February 2013 | Sharapova's Thigh

In 2012, Miguel Cabrera won the AL MVP and became the first player since Carl Yastrzemski (1967) to win the Triple Crown. And it doesn't appear as though he'll slow down on destroying baseballs in 2013. In Grapefruit League action on Monday against the Phillies, the Tigers' star hit a very, very long home run:

Have any doubts about how strong the Oakland Athletics' Yoenis Cespedes is or how much power he has as a hitter? You won't after you watch this video of him hitting a home run with a donut (not the food kind) on his bat in batting practice:
As MLB.Com explains (and as anybody that's played baseball competitively knows): "A donut is a round weight that slips over a bat's barrel, adding extra resistance for swing practice. It's not meant to be used during live BP."

Incredible stuff from Cespedes. The 27-year-old Cuban outfielder put his power on display as a rookie in 2012, hitting 23 bombs, 53 extra-base hits, and putting together a .505 slugging percentage.

Here's a ridiculous behind-the-back ping pong shot

I'm sure you didn't miss the recent Kuwait Open table tennis tournament, but if for some reason you did, you missed an awesome behind-the-back shot from Quentin Robinot of France.

William Carey University (Hattiesburg, Mississippi) cheerleader Ashlee Arnau made a half-court shot on Thursday night that you will not believe.

Check it out:

Unfreakingbelievable. According to It's Always Sunny in Detroit, the shot even led off the 11 PM ET SportsCenter on Thursday night.

The video below has probably been everywhere already today, but it's too good to not put on the Thigh.

Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan with a free throw brick for the ages against the Lakers at Staples Center last night:

That's a professional basketball player, folks.

We recently showed you video of the 2013 Los Angeles Kings Ice Crew Girls bikini calendar shoot, and now we're showing invididual profiles of these lovely ladies.

Yesterday we showed you Cassie (Miss October), and now we bring you Miss November, Vanessa:

If Vanessa looks familiar to you, it may be because we featured an Ice Crew Girls video profile of her in 2011 as well.

Next Wednesday (February 20th), Sony is expected to announce the next Playstation console, which we'll assume is going to simply be named Playstation 4 (it's currently code-named "Orbis", though). And with the (expected) announcement, we may get some photos/videos/details of the new console.

But, (thanks to Destructoid) we already have an image of what is apparently a prototype Playstation 4 controller:

IGN is hearing from a "trusted source" that the controller is indeed a Playstation 4 prototype:

A trusted source has told IGN that this controller is real. However, our source notes that it's an early prototype. The controller, in other words, is likely to change between now and when the console launches. Sony has responded to our inquiry to note that it "can't comment on rumors or speculation", its typical response. We'll almost certainly find out what the final controller looks like at the PlayStation event in NYC on February 20.

Much of the controller looks very similar to the Playstation 3 controller, with two very notable exceptions that IGN's Colin Moriarty points out:

The much-rumored touch pad – a la the back of PlayStation Vita – appears at the center of the controller. There’s a small, mystery button to the left of the pad, above and to the right of the d-pad. Is this the rumored share button? Or is it a start or select button, both conspicuously abse

Meanwhile, there’s a glowing “something” on the top of the controller – most likely PlayStation Move-related – as well as a PlayStation button seemingly identical to the one on the PS3 controller. Above the PlayStation button appears to be a speaker, and what looks to be an audio jack is underneath the controller, perhaps used to plug in a headset.nt from this version of the controller?
We'll surely learn much more about the Playstation 4 next week.

My Colorado State Rams cracked the top-25 this week in college hoops for the first time in 59 freaking years, and continued rolling with a 66-60 victory over San Diego State (ranked 22nd in the Coaches Poll) on Wednesday night in Fort Collins. And during the game, the CSU students in attendance at Moby Arena got their 'Harlem Shake' on (as most everybody is these days).

Check it out (first video via RamNation.Com):

And the second video, via Coloradoan.Com

My only complaint here: What the hell is Dinger (the Colorado Rockies mascot and world's worst mascot) doing at the game?

Related: Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks do the Harlem Shake.

The Dallas Mavericks' social media team is probably the best in the NBA. My favorite video from them is still Dirk Nowitzi'sdramatic reading of Britney Spears' "Oops, I did it again".

Blake Griffin pulled off a dunk that was amazing even by Blake Griffin dunk standards in the Clippers' 107-90 victory over the 76ers on Monday night in Philadelphia.

Watch Griffin switch hands mid-air on this ridiculous dunk, which is followed by an awesome dunk from teammate DeAndre Jordan as well:

The Clippers are so much damn fun.

Houston Rockets guard Jeremy Lin went to school at Harvard (in case you never heard or have completely eliminated anything to do with Linsanity from your brain), and ESPN had that fact in mind with their latest 'This is SportsCenter' commercial.

As I frequently say, you can complain about a lot of things with ESPN (I know I do), but the 'This is SportsCenter' commercials are the best.

On Friday, we showed you the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover featuring Kate Upton.

Well today, Jimmy Traina (@JimmyTraina) revealed a picture on Hot Clicks of Kate in body paint (as there will be such pictures in the issue). SI of course does the body paint features annually in the Swimsuit Issue.

But... this is a very little amount of body paint, and that's just fine by us:

Sweet sassy molassy. I think this Swimsuit Issue will sell quite well (Forbes thinks it could top $50 million in sales), beginning tomorrow (February 12th) when it hits stores.

Phil Mickelson had a very unfortunate moment on Saturday at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, as he slipped, and then fell on his ass. Even worse for 'Lefty'? The embarrassing slip didn't slip by the CBS cameras:

Watching people fall down is the best.

(Note: I did the same thing a couple days ago on ice in public but I'm pretty sure/hoping nobody else saw it)

The (regulation) finish to the Michigan-Wisconsin Big 10 basketball game on Saturday in Madison was absolutely insane.

First, Michigan star Tim Hardaway Jr. (yes, son of that Tim Hardaway) drained a difficult three-point shot to put the No. 3 Wolverines up 60-57 with 2.4 seconds to go in regulation.

However, on the next play, Wisconsin's Ben Brust made a much more incredible shot, as he hit nothing but net on a running buzzer-beater from just inside half-court to send the game into overtime. As Bill Raftery would say, "Onions! Double order!"

Here's video of the amazing sequence:

After Brust made that shot, it seemed inevitable that Wisconsin would find a way to win in overtime, and indeed they did, by the score of 65-62. Just another top-five team going down in a conference road game. Feels like that's happening just about everyday now.

And as The Big Lead's Stephen Douglas said, "This is what happens when neither team does the smart thing by fouling intentionally."

That's the apparent cover of the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, as leaked by Fashion Copious. It would mark the second consecutive year that the lovely Kate Upton landed the SI cover (click here for Kate Upton on the 2012 SI cover).

And we said in June that Kate's boobs were officially out of control. Now... my God. But again, no complaints.

You can pick up the 2013 Swimsuit Issue on February 12th, and then stare at it for hours wishing Kate was your Valentine.

Thigh Five to reader @Jbroks86 (Twitter handle) for the tip. Give him a follow.

UPDATE: Sports Illustrated has confirmed that the leaked Upton cover is indeed the cover.

I can already see the college and NBA scouts lining up at a Chuck E. Cheese to watch Titus as he dominates the Pop-A-Shot.

Also, the 55 worst people in the world are the 55 people (so far) that disliked the video.

The Alabama Crimson Tide have won two straight national titles in college football, will have many key players returning in 2013 (such as quarterback A.J. McCarron and running back T.J. Yeldon), and have a 2013 recruiting class ranked in the top-3 by Rivals and ESPN (one of the players is yet another stud running back that we showed on here).

Oh, and they just got this two-story, 34,000-square foot weight room, which cost $9 million (click through to see a larger version of the image):

Incredible. Be very, very scared (for a long time), rest of college football.

If there's been a better posterizing dunk thus far in the 2012-13 college basketball season than the one Eastern Kentucky's Marcus Lewis threw down on Saturday against Southeast Missouri, I certainly haven't seen it.

No. 19 North Carolina State may have lost to No. 14 Miami on a last-second tip-in on Saturday in Raleigh, but at least the Wolfpack have an amazing dunk to hang their hats on.
