Finally, a physics-driven engine in 'Madden' that is known as the "Infinity Engine", and proof of it debuted at E3 today. Here's a quick explanation of it from EA Sports:

With Physics You Can Feel, Madden NFL 13 delivers Next Generation gameplay today. Powered by the all-new Infinity Engine, true player impact and authentic momentum transfer ensure that no two plays ever look or feel the same.

And the video for it shown at E3:

Madden greatly needed an overhaul to the engine like this. The gameplay was feeling the same for about a decade straight.

Now, obviously EA Sports is going to make the trailer so it appears as the Infinity Engine is the greatest addition in video game history, but we'll have wait and see how it actually plays.

Still, from what you can see in the video, and what they're saying, this is all very promising stuff.

Earlier we showed you Nintendo's next-generation console that is due for release in 2012, the Wii U. Well, here's a video of Nintendo introducing the Wii U today at E3:

That chick hitting the golf ball "off" the controller totally blew my mind.

As expected, Nintendo is providing more information on its new console at the massive video game expo currently being held in Los Angeles, E3. Previously the new Nintendo console had been going by the names "Wii 2" and "Project Cafe", but it is now officially called the "Wii U".

And here's a picture of the Wii U(to my knowledge the only picture of it available so far):

Interesting. It sure looks a lot like the XBOX 360 to me.

Nintendo also revealed the controller that we wrote about yesterday, and it looks quite a bit different than the picture we had in that post:

That looks like a fancy Sega Game Gear to me. And fancy, it is indeed:

The controller includes a 6.2 inch touch screen, four triggers - two larger and two smaller - microphone, gyroscope, inward facing camera, a Home button, and an accelerometer.

We'll surely be learning much, much more about the Wii U over these next three days.

As we told you with our last post, the video game expo E3 is getting underway in Los Angeles. So it's going to be video game news/videos galore over the next few days. And today, a trailer for EA Sports 'Madden 12' was released.

Check it out:

I usually cave and buy the 'Madden' game each season, but I've been a bit disappointed with it over the last few years. I mean, I still play the hell out of it and enjoy it, but it's becoming pretty much the same thing year after year with just updated rosters and a few changes here and there.

Anyway, that trailer looks pretty cool, but it of course doesn't show us any gameplay footage, or give us any idea that the game is going to change at all from previous years.

'Madden 12' is due for an August 12 release date, and hopefully that will be weeks before the actual NFL season happens. But so far, we have no idea if the 2011 NFL season will indeed happen thanks to the lockout.

P.S. Isn't it still weird to think that Peyton Hillis is the 'Madden' cover boy?

The 2011 E3 Expo begins tomorrow in Los Angeles and will continue through Thursday. It's by far the biggest few days of news in the video game industry, as new plans and displays of upcoming projects for companies involved in the industry are released.

And already, we've learned details on the controller for the next Nintendo console, which is currently being known as "Project Cafe"(also known by the "Wii 2" to some). The picture that you see above was an example given over the last few months of what the Project Cafe controller could look like, and from what we learned today, that picture looks pretty accurate:

After months of speculation regarding the specifics of Nintendo's next console, codenamed Project Cafe, we finally have confirmation as to the nature of the controller.

According to Japanese site Nikkei, Project Cafe's controller will be sporting a six-inch touch screen. It will also come with a built-in camera and rechargeable battery and will allow users tablet-like control of games. The site also stated that the console should drop in mid-2012.

Sounds pretty badass. It will be interesting to see what more we learn about the Project Cafe over the next few days.
